About Glamping Villa Hanz

Glamping Villa Hanz sits at the foot of Mt Fuji, and is just 10 minutes drive away from Lake Kawaguchi.

Apart from offering a great location, they have a unique glamping concept. They’ve kept the great experiences that come with camping, and gotten rid of the sacrifices of comfort camping usually entails.

That means you can still chop your firewood, light your own fire, and cook your meals on your BBQ. You just won’t need to lug loads of camping gear around to do it!

There are three areas to the campsite. In one you’ll find the villa-style accommodation.

The villa’s offer an outdoor living room (that still has a roof to keep you dry if the weather turns!) and deck area. They come with BBQ facilities and a hot tub!

The Hanz Pao area is dotted with dome-style glamping tents. But don’t be fooled by their simple exteriors. On the inside, there are beds fit for a king, luxury furniture, and a private bathroom complex.

If you really want to splash out there’s a luxury guesthouse you can rent out too.

During your stay make the most of the site’s other facilities, like the hot spring baths that have mineral-rich waters flowing directly from Mt Fuji, and the open air onsen where you can soak outdoors amongst the trees.

In the evening, get cooking! They’ll give you all the ingredients and tools you need, and you can cook them to your taste on your outdoor BBQ.

About Kawaguchiko

Kawaguchiko is a town at the foot of Mt Fuji. Because it’s easy to access and has lots of accommodation options, as well as local attractions, it’s quickly become the most popular area to stay close to Mt Fuji.

Apart from the breathtaking views of Mt Fuji in the distance, Kawaguchiko has its own highlights.

Surrounding the town there are a number of lakes, the nearest being Lake Kawaguchi and Lake Saiko. Walking or cycling around the lake are a great way to spend an afternoon.

From the town, you can also visit the traditional Chureito Pagoda. Five stories tall and with views of Mt Fuji in the distance – it’s something special. The best time to visit is in April when all the cherry blossoms are in bloom.

I can’t think of a better spot for a Mt Fuji glamping trip than Kawaguchiko. The Glamping Villa Hanz is nestled in the forest on the outskirts of the town.

It’s the perfect location as it feels remote and secluded, but it’s simultaneously close to everything.

Most travellers visit Mount Fuji on a day trip from Tokyo, but they don’t know just how much they’re missing.

Spending at least one night in this area means properly exploring all the sights and enjoying the atmosphere, without being rushed away at the end of the day.

During our time at Glamping Villa Hanz we were able to go beyond just the standard tourist sights around Mount Fuji, exploring spots a little off the beaten track like Shiraito Falls, Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Shrine, and Saiko Iyashi-no-Sato Nenba.

As well as obviously the famous sights like Chureito Pagoda, Oshino Hakkai, and cycling around Kawaguchiko Lake.

Stay At The Camp And Try Something New

What I loved about Glamping Villa Hanz is that it’s not just a place to stay where you can crash at the end of the day, but a whole experience in and of itself, with lots of activities to keep you entertained.

Some of the ones we enjoyed the most include:

Pick up an axe and try wood chopping: if you’ve tried it before you’ll know it’s not as easy as it looks! But with some help from the camping staff, you’ll soon be making your own fires from scratch.

Relax in the Onsen: if you need some down time off, opt for the private or public onsens on site, with water that comes directly from Mt Fuji! Relax and rejuvenate before your next tour.

Try your luck at ring throwing: take your best aim and see if you can hit the jackpots amongst the canopy. There are prizes at play!
