Japan Travel Guides
As someone who grew up doing Judo, watching Anime and reading Manga, Japan has always been a dream destination of mine.
Japan is an incredible and very varied country. What amazed me most was how ancient culture and history go hand in hand with the modern technological advances and Manga culture.
It’s not uncommon to see ancient temples on one street, and manga stores and signs in the street next to it.
Visiting Japan will enrich you both on personal and cultural level. I spent two weeks in Japan, and while it might not be enough to see this beautiful country, it’s a good start.
Here you will find all my top Japan travel tips.
Quick travel tips for Japan
Where is Japan? Island country in East Asia.
How to get there: You can find the cheapest flights via SkyScanner.
Currency: Japanese Yen (JPY) – see the latest exchange rate here.
Electrical plugs in Japan: Type A&B (these are the ones you get in Central & North America) – I recommend an international adapter so you can use it on multiple trips.
Capital City: Tokyo.
Best time to visit: Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are considered the best times to visit. This because of the beautiful colours that you get in spring thanks to the cherry blossoms, and of the orange falling leaves in autumn.
However these periods can also be very busy. Japan also has some awesome ski resorts, so if you’re a skiing fan you might enjoy visiting Japan in December.
You can get an idea of the weather conditions for every month and different regions of Japan here.
How to travel within Japan: Japan has an excellent railway and public transport system. The easiest way to travel around Japan is with the high-speed Shinkansen trains.
If you’re going to be moving a lot within Japan it’s advisable to get a Japan Rail Pass. For a fixed price this will allow you get all the trains you want within a set period of time.
Visa requirements: Most passport holders are granted a free visa on arrival that allows you to stay in Japan for 90 days. Click here to see the visa free list.
