Instagrammable Places In Singapore: The 15 Most Instagram Worthy Places In Singapore

Instagram is playing an increasingly big role in the way people travel and capture their memories. After all, if you travelled somewhere and didn’t share a photo of it on Instagram, were you even really there? Singapore is one of those destinations where there are Instagram-worthy spots all over the city; the contrast between modern high-rise buildings and colourful houses makes it an Instagrammers dream destination. If you search for Singapore on Instagram you will find 28 MILLION results, but are all these shots really Instagram worthy? If you’re planning a trip to Singapore and want to make all your friends on social media jealous, check out this guide to the best Instagrammable places in Singapore.

The most Instagram-worthy landmarks in Singapore

Gardens by the Bay (Supertree Grove)

Gardens by the Bay is not only one of the most Instagrammable places in Singapore, but also one of the most famous and visited attractions of the city. Gardens by the Bay is a nature park in the centre of Singapore, right next to the Marina Reservoir. While there are some paid attractions in the Gardens, access to the vast majority of the 250 acres of Gardens by the Bay is free for anyone who wants to escape the busy streets of Singapore and immerse themselves in nature. The most famous spot in Gardens by the Bay is the Supertree Grove, no trip to Singapore would be complete without an Instagram photo by the trees. Bonus points if you get Marina Bay Sands in the back of the shot too.

Cloud Forest

One of the famous landmarks within Gardens by the Bay there is the Cloud Forest. This is one of the attractions within Gardens by the Bay that you have to buy a ticket for in order to go inside. You can purchase a ticket online beforehand if you want to avoid the queues, alternatively you can purchase one at the kiosk on the day. It’s 12 SGD for access to the Cloud Forest, or 20 SGD if you want to access both Cloud Forest and the Flower Dome. If you’re looking for the most Instagrammable spots in Singapore, I personally think the Cloud Forest makes for a better Instagram shot. The huge indoor rainforest, which is also home to the highest indoor waterfall, makes for the perfect photo backdrop.

ArtScience Museum

Located right next to Gardens by the Bay and Marina Bay Sands, you will the ArtScience Museum. Besides having some very Instagrammable spots inside it (like this room with the sparkly lights, anyone else seen it on Instagram before?) it is also a very fun and interesting place to spend an afternoon, if you’re a bit of a nerd and child inside like me. The first time I visited Singapore I was only there for a 12-hour layover and I spent the majority of it in the ArtScience Museum. There are a number of different exhibitions going on, all built to be informative and interactive. Not the most conventional place to go looking for photos but very Instagram worthy nonetheless.

Helix Bridge

Helix Bridge is a pedestrian bridge that connects Marina Centre with Marina South, and is designed to represent DNA. The bridge becomes especially Instgrammable if you visit at night, when all the lights come on and create a special visual experience for pedestrians walking the bridge. If you’re trying to walk around Singapore it also offers some shade thanks to the coloured canopies that are fitted in the double helix.

Singapore Flyer

The Singapore Flyer is a giant ferris wheel, that offers plenty of Instagram photo opportunities, regardless of whether you actually go for a ride on the ferris wheel or not. Similarly to the London Eye (which also features on my lis of most Instagrammable places in London) the Singapore Flyer provides stunning views over the Singapore harbour and skyline. If you’re afraid of heights or don’t have the time to go for a Ferris wheel ride no need to worry, you can get plenty of Instagrammable shots from the ground of the structure itself.

Old Hill Street Police Station

A police station might seem like an odd choice to add to a list of Instagram worthy places, however the Old Hill Street Police Station in Singapore has a well deserved spot in this guide. The rainbow coloured blinds stand out against the white building and make it the perfect backdrop for an Instagram photo. If you want to be in the photo just be careful and make sure you watch out for traffic, the road on which the police station is located is extremely trafficked!

The colourful houses of Koon Seng Road

One of the things that surprised me most about Singapore was the amount of cute little coloured houses, located right next to fancy tall skyscrapers. There are a number of streets in Singapore where you can the traditional small and coloured houses, however the buildings in Koon Seng Road are in my opinion the most Instagrammable. Every house is a different colour from its neighbour, creating a beautiful pop of colour in the city.

Check out the exact location of these houses here.

Tan Teng Niah’s house in Little India

If you thought the colourful houses of Koon Seng Road were Instagram-worthy, you will absolutely love Tan Teng Niah’s former house in Little India. Built in 1900 it is the last surviving Chinese villa in Little India, and was the house of a Chinese businessman. Today it provides a beautiful backdrop for people’s Instagram photos and an interesting history for those who want to read up on it.

Marina Bay Sands seen from (across the harbour)

I know we’ve had Marina Bay Sands on this list already, but when you’re one of the most famous and interesting buildings in Singapore you’re bound to come up more than once in a list of Instagrammable photo spots. The view from the rooftop pool is simply stunning, however if you’re looking to get a photo of the building itself, with its three distinctive towers and rooftop pool, you’ll have to step a bit further away. I personally found the best view from across the harbour from Esplanade Drive, close to the Merlion Fountain, where you can get both Marina Bay Sands and the Art Science Museum (another very cool looking building) in the same shot.

Masjid Sultan

Masjid Sultan is considered one of the most important mosques in Singapore. The mosque is located in Arab Street, one of hipster and cool areas of Singapore. With its colourful buildings, street markets, restaurants and shops Arab Street is a funky area to walk around once you’re done snapping your Instagram photos.

People’s Park Complex

This spot is the perfect example of how the most random places can be made famous by social media. People’s Park Complex is a high rise residential and commercial building, whose only special feature is a striking yellow facade that can act as a perfect retro backdrop for pretty much any type of photos. There’s a large concrete car park behind the building which means plenty of space for taking all those Instagrammable shots.

The most Instagram worthy hotels in Singapore

Marina Bay Sands

The rooftop pool of Marina Bay Sands, with its stunning view over the skyline of Singapore has quickly become one of the most famous and Instagrammed spots in Singapore. After all, if you’d paid £300 per night to sleep in such a fancy hotel, you’d want all your friends on social media to know right? The pool is only accessible to people who stay in the hotel so if you want that shot you will have to make the investment, being cool on social media can be expensive. To get a cool shot make sure to head up there early in the morning, before the crowds storm the pool (check this guide if you’re looking for more beautiful and Instagrammable hotels with rooftop pools in Singapore).

Hotel Indigo Singapore Katong

Since not all of us have £300 to drop on one night in a hotel room, last time I visited Singapore I was set on finding myself a hotel with an equally epic rooftop pool view, without breaking the bank. Hotel Indigo in Katong provided just that, and much more. The rooftop pool might not be quite as tall as that of Marina Bay Sands but it still has an epic view over the surrounding rooftops. The interior décor of the bedrooms is also very Instagrammable, thanks to the stylish furniture choices and the big floor to ceiling windows. A small number of the rooms have the bathroom located by the windows, meaning that for an extra £15 a night you can get a cool shot of casually chilling in the bath tub while enjoying the view over Singapore.

Holiday Inn Express Clarke Quay

You get it, this list of most Instagram worthy hotels in Singapore features a lot of pools with a view. The Holiday Inn Express Clarke Quay is another good alternative for those who want to swim with a view over the rooftops of Singapore without breaking the bank. It’s also located very central to both Marina Bay and all the cool bars and restaurants along Clarke Quay.

What I use to take my Instagram photos

Now you know the best locations in Singapore to take epic Instagram photos, but you still need some guidance on what to use to take those photos and make sure they’re epic and Instagrammable. I’ve listed below all the gear I use myself to take the photos and videos you see in this blog and my Instagram feed.

Nikon D3300: I use this camera for pretty much everything. I’ve had it from before I started travel blogging and it’s considered one of the best DSLRs for beginners. There are better cameras out there, but as far as value for money goes, especially if you’re a beginner with DLSRs, it’s a great camera. It’s a bit bulky but it’s easy to use and great for experimenting.

Nikon f/1.8 35mm lens: This lens will allow you to take photos with that nice blurred background effect (called bokeh) which will make your Instagram photos look very pro (see below). It’s compatible to a number of different Nikon cameras so you can use it even if you don’t have my same camera body.

Manfrotto compact tripod: If you travel solo and don’t trust strangers to take good photos of you, consider investing in a tripod. I have a Manfrotto compact tripod and love it since it’s so light and easy to carry around.

Selfie stick: If you don’t want to carry around a tripod, go for a selfie stick instead.  Almost everyone has one these days and you won’t stand out for using one.

If you want to see what other cameras I use for my action shots, check out my full gear guide here.

Have you been to Singapore before? How did you find it? Let me know in the comments below! If there are other places which you think should feature in this list of the most Instagram worthy places in Singapore let me know, I’d love to include them!
